Nursery Wall Murals - Painting Nursery Clouds – Add Diversity, Texture and Depth to Cloud Stencils
There is nothing more dreamy and relaxing than a cloud-filled sky. Remember the carefree days as a child, lying on your back and looking up to the sky filled with clouds? “Hey, I see a rooster!” “And there is a motorcycle!” Clouds not only have a relaxing effect on children but seem to bring out the imaginative side as well.
For these reasons and more, clouds are a popular backdrop for kid rooms and baby nurseries. Several of our decorating kits come with cloud stencils. You can paint these stencils again and again all over the walls (or on the ceiling!), and sooner than you know it, you’ll have created a serene cloud-filled sky.
To prevent the clouds from appearing too repetitive on the baby room wall, you may want to add variety, texture and depth. Follow these simple steps, and you can create an endless variety of cloud shapes by using the two stencils provided in the kits:
- First, paint a layer using the larger cloud stencil.
- Then, to make the cloud bigger and change its form, overlap the smaller stencil on one area. To make it even bigger, you can paint one more layer on another area.
- Finally, use a bristle brush to add texture and depth. Put a small amount of blue base-coat paint on the brush and gently tap in into the cloud. Your goal is to add shadows and blend the cloud into the sky.
And voila! A beautiful and fluffy cloud and a great start to your nursery mural. And after you’ve painted the sky, don’t forget to allow yourself a moment to lie down, gaze up, and “Look, I see a…!”
