Telling Stories with Nursery Murals and Kid Murals
Storytelling is an ancient art that involves conveying ideas in words, images and sounds. Our nursery murals and kid murals spark the imagination and provide countless storytelling possibilities. Envision you and your child sitting together in the rocker and letting your imagination run wild…
Here are some starters for our decorating kits:
TRANSPORTATION MURAL
Once upon a time there was a boy loved trains. His name was Frederick, and he lived in an apartment on the 34th floor of a busy city street. At night in the dark of his bedroom, he would hear the noises of the city - the sirens of police cars and fire trucks, the whirring of helicopters, and the zooming of airplanes. One sound, however, he never heard was the chugging of a choo choo train. You see, Frederick had never been out of the city before and had only seen trains on TV. But one day, the phone rang and Frederick answered, “Hello?” “Hello, young man. My name is T.J. Jonkins. I hear that you love choo choo trains. Is that true?” Frederick eagerly responded, and Mr. Jonkins continued, “Well then, I have some great news for you…”
FLOWER MURAL
On a hill stood a big purple tree. You’d think that a purple tree would be cheerful, given its happy color, but this tree was not. She was a sad tree because all alone. One morning a gorgeous peacock went out for a walk to stretch her features and heard sobbing come from the direction of the tree. The peacock approached the tree, “My dear tree, whatever are you crying about?” “Oh, hello. It’s just, it’s just, it’s…” But she couldn’t finish because she was crying so hard. “Oh dear me. Well, I’m going to go and get some help. I’ll be right back.” And the peacock raced down the hill as quickly as her feet could carry her and…”
FARM MURAL
In a far off land called Goo Goo Ville, there was a farm called Goo Goo Farm. All the farm animals were not your typical sort. The pig didn’t snort like a normal pig but baa’d like a sheep instead. The horse had the body of a horse but rather the tail of a peacock. The mouse was not the smallest animal on the farm but the biggest. One day a little girl was walking by Goo Goo Farm and noticed that a hen was sitting on a large pile of sneakers. “That’s odd.” She thought to herself, and so she decided to get a closer look. Just as she was approaching the farm gate, she was confronted by a rooster that had a very bad cold. “Excuse me, aaaachooo, little girl, aaachooo…”
Hmm? What news does Mr. Jonkins have for the boy? How will the peacock help the tree? What other silly animals will the girl discover on Goo Goo Farm? You can finish the stories for yourselves. Remember that is no right or wrong way to tell a story. Just use the images from the nursery murals and kid murals and let the stories unfold. You and your child will be able to tell limitless stories using the characters and designs in our wall murals. Use them to entertain, educate, and even teach morals. And you’ll definitely want to keep a notebook and pen handy so that you’ll have the stories forever.
