5 Ways to Clean with Lemon Essential Oil

Over here at My Wonderful Walls, we love our essential oils! Check out these 5 great tips for cleaning with lemon essential oil:

1). Organic All-Purpose Cleaner: Make your own natural, lemon-y fresh all purpose cleaner by grabbing an empty spray bottle (preferably glass or thick BPA free plastic) and adding 1 part water with 1 part white vinegar. Next, add 6 or 7 drops of your favorite lemon essential oil and shake, shake, shake your groove thang baby to mix it all up! *Tip: you can use Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar in place of white vinegar for an even better smell ;)

2). Fruit and Veggie Wash: Scrub your fruits and veggies squeaky clean by mixing 10-15 drops of organic lemon essential oil with 4-6 cups of water in a large mixing bowl. Let fruits and veggies soak about 5 min, then rinse clean. *Tip: since essential oil doesn't go bad like lemon juice, you can store a fresh batch of this mixture in a spray bottle under your kitchen sink to fire at those fruits and veggies when needed.

3). Remove Stains from Your Clothes: Simply apply a drop or two of lemon essential oil directly to a stain or grease stain before throwing in the wash, and viola! Stain is gone.

4).
Fight Allergies: Unfortunately for some of us, spring doesn't put a spring in our step because it also means allergy season -ahchoo! Here's a great, all natural alternative to over-the-counter allergy meds and antihistamines. Just mix 1 drop of the following essential oils; lavender, lemon, and peppermint with a smidgen of coconut oil and rub it on feet, chest, neck and temples on either side of your head. *Tip: you can also add a few drops of lemon essential oil to your favorite herbal tea to help relieve congestion. Sweeten with raw honey for extra, soothing comfort.

5).
Exfoliate Your Skin and Boost Your Mood: Last, but not least, lemon face and body scrub, my personal favorite! This scrub is easy to make and is a great mood booster, especially if you use in the morning. Simply combine dry oatmeal, raw honey and a bit of water in a small bowl or container to make a paste (not too runny!). Then, add a 3-5 drops of lemon essential oil to the paste, mix with fingers, and rub on your face in a gentle circular motion. Wait about five minutes, then rinse and wash your face with a gentle organic soap.
